Hi there,
Cape Town has been buzzing lately. Between the noise and the influx of tourists, I realized I needed to leave town again.
I needed to find a spot to recharge and escape the city noise. So, I packed the car and headed out to a farm near Ceres for a week of proper country living ๐จโ๐พ๐
Noisy Tourist Season in Cape Town
If you live in the city, you know the feeling. Sometimes it just gets too loud. I wanted silence, but I also wanted comfort.
I found exactly that at Kaleo Guest Farm. It wasnโt a hotel pretending to be a farmโit was the real deal. My cottage was situated right in the middle of the farm and surrounded by animals.
The only "traffic noise" I dealt with was the occasional tractor driving pastโwhich, honestly, is the kind of background noise I can live with.
Remote Work & Braais
I stayed for a week, so I needed a place that was practical. Each cottage has its own braai area. But what surprised me was the connectivity. They offer basic WiFiโjust enough to get a bit of remote work done or stream a Spotify playlist while the fire crackles, but not so overpowering that you can't disconnect.
Hiking and Chilling
I didn't just sit around, though. The property is huge and offers so many options depending on your mood:
Trail Running: I spent a good amount of time on the trails.
Hiking & MTB: There are plenty of different routes if you prefer hiking or brought your mountain bike.
Water Features: I found a lovely water dam with a waterfallโwell worth the walk.
The Sunset Stroll: Sometimes, just a casual walk on the farm to watch the sun go down was enough.
Stargazing & Soul Searching
This was the highlight for me. I took a mat outside, laid down, and just did some stargazing. It was incredibly therapeuticโperfect for a bit of soul searching or having a "philosopher moment" thinking about God, Life, and the universe๐ค.
I brought my toys along, too. I used my GoPro to record a nightlapse and set up my Seestar (which is an amazing tool for beginner astrophotography) to capture a nebula.

My Final Thoughts
Driving back to the city, I felt genuinely reset. Sometimes we don't realize how much the noise affects us until it's gone. Kaleo was exactly the "silence" I didn't know I needed.
Whether you go for the hiking or just to stare at the Milky Way, I hope you find the same peace there that I did.
๐ Take me to the farm ๐
