Hey fellow explorers,

if you’ve been following my journey in the VW Polo, you know I’ve spent at least one weekend a month over the last few years exploring the Western Cape. People often ask me why I’m so obsessed with finding guest farms, and the truth is pretty simple: I need the silence to think.

Escaping the City Noise

As much as I love the energy of the city, the noise can be a lot. Between the constant construction sites, the "interesting" neighbors, and the supercars that treat our streets like a Formula 1 track, my brain eventually hits a wall.
I’ve found that the best way to hit "reset" is to find a dirt road and see where it leads. Usually, it leads to a gate, a gravel driveway, and a quiet cottage where the only "noise" is the wind.

Clarity on the Trail

There is something about being out of town that clears the mental fog. When I’m out on a hike at a guest farm, my mind starts working differently.
It’s where I:

  • Think clearly about the world and geopolitics.

  • Make better investment decisions away from the hustle.

  • Do some soul searching when life gets heavy, helping me make rational decisions with less emotion.

Stars, Cameras, and Sleep

When the sun goes down, the real show starts. I’ve been recording the night sky with my GoPro and, more recently, getting into astrophotography with my Seestar. There’s no light pollution out here—just millions of stars and the best sleep you’ll ever have.

My Top "Lekker" Guest Farms

Most of these I found just by browsing Google Maps or spotting a random sign while driving. Here are a few I highly recommend if you need to escape the city noise and drama:

Help me find the next one

I’m always looking for that next dirt road to explore. Do you have a favorite guest farm that isn't on LekkerSpots yet?

Reply to this email or reach out and let me know where I should head next month. I’d love to showcase your favourite hidden gems!

Stay curious,
Adrian
